Moxnes vs. Craffert in Atlanta

's friend Johannes Weiss has a post , inspired by Loren Rosson, which combines two scholars who have offered important contributions to recent research on Jesus' historical, Dale Allison and Pieter Craffert. The analysis by Weiss, weighing finely similarities and differences, reminded me of a comparison, I witnessed a few days ago to agree annual SBL, between himself and Halvor Craffert Moxnes, Norwegian scholar who has, in my opinion, never banal observations.
Everything was' done in a panel where Moxnes anticipated the themes of his forthcoming book devoted to research on Jesus' history in the nineteenth century, concern, and what you 'could understand, a remake of the famous analysis of Albert Schweitzer, but with a more 'pronounced focus on issues (mostly socio-political) that were not much in the strings of the professor in Strasbourg. Craffert was the respondent and, as expected, his intervention has taken many elements found in the methodological part of his now famous book about Jesus' interpreted as a shaman of Galilee. According Craffert, both the positivist historical-critical research (which arrives at a Jesus' indistinguishable from the intellectual and theological profile of the researcher) as the post-modern (who insists instead on a Jesus' other ', different, as in Moxnes much of the work) would not have but two faces of the same ethnocentrism and cultural imperialism of the same. I must say that I was honestly quite impressive to see a scholar of Afrikaner origin (regardless of his past or his current political opinions) to accuse someone Another of ethnocentrism or imperialism.
Pulled from the audience, Moxnes, which seemed a bit 'reluctant to respond, he pointed out that the Jesus' "queer" is the most' far one can imagine a paradigm dominant cultural level (in fact, I'd say, ethnocentrism and imperialism is best suited for "shamanic", given the ideological genealogy of the model and its "creator", Mircea Eliade). In a sense, this Moxnes responsibility 'and the duty to present this alternative and subversive image of Jesus' of Nazareth. Obviously, Craffert asked whether, at this point, has more 'sense to speak of a' objectivity 'and, of course, Moxnes responded that there is no objectivity', but all carry the weight of our research in the intellectual and experiential baggage.
All in all, although under some 'typical fragmented discussions of the SBL, an interesting conversation.

How and where to sell an ebook online

How and where to sell an ebook online ? The web seems to offer many opportunities for publication, but few turn out to be really useful and meaningful from the practical point of view. Can you find the perfect channel for its own economic needs and the visibility seems to find a precarious balance. A journey that unfortunately often frustrates the best efforts of writing and editing.
However, this is a point not to be underestimated. The distribution of an ebook practice is one of the factors that most affect the result of publication at the same time is also an essential prerequisite to be able to give visibility to their work. It is therefore hard to imagine why a good job in the field of digital distribution is a perfect harbinger to the overall success of an ebook.
At the same time, most independent filmmakers seem to rely on improvisation or strategy trial & error, too costly in terms of cost and self-branding to be carried out in the long run. In view of these assumptions, for many authors in its infancy in the digital domain, to solve the dilemmas are indeed numerous. Tax issues with practical concerns, we offer some suggestions regarding sell an ebook online , at least compared to major doubts.
First, do not leave to chance this important issue. In addition to providing poor results in terms of visibility, you may find yourself with thorny legal issues or tax since the sale of an ebook touches, however, some aspects of electronic commerce and subject to the payment of taxes the income. Also consider that many e-commerce sites have placed limits on the sale of books digital , so you might run into suspension of your account if you do not pay attention to the rules of procedure (one case for all is the famous portal ' ebay auction, which prohibits the sale of ebooks have in the past were often used for buying and selling feedback).
In general, if you want to self-publish the first step is to contact those who have decided to devote himself to print on demand or selling ebook in a privileged way. It 's the case with many sites and portals as independent distribution www.lulu.com and ilmiolibro . These systems are already on the market for several years, with the logic of trade magazines and a pool of people ready to buy.
important caveat: before you join and upload your ebook, we always recommend that you carefully read the contract register on the site, to avoid surprises or missteps difficult to remedy later.
E' da notare anche la presenza di editori più tradizionali, che hanno aperto un proprio reparto Internal specialized in the sale of ebook, but you should consider that in this way you'll still be forced to co-exist the limits and merits of a joint publication of both print and digital.
The great advantage of publishing through an ebook publisher lies in the synergy of co-marketing (to which a good editor should take part) and in fiscal management easier, because you simply state your income within several of your income tax return. Of course, the amount of revenue fall sharply, but if the number of copies sold were to be sustained, it could really be worth la pena.
One of the biggest mistakes in relation to this strategy lies in the fact that it is enough to believe publish the ebook on its homepage on the contrary must plan carefully how and where to deploy a digital book even if it is issued free of charge. For example, using the numerous social networks dedicated to sharing digital documents (such as Scribd and Slideshare).
In conclusion, the distribution opportunities offered by the nascent state of ' digital publishing are very many, but should be carefully soppesate in relazione alle proprie necessità, per non incorrere in fallimenti annunciati o problematiche pratiche di difficile soluzione a cose "già avviate".

Google Books: What no one tells you!

Although the blog post certainly can not be exhaustive, the introduction of this important research tool in the ecosystem Italian literature has had such an impact that it deserves a thorough analysis.
The first consideration should be centered in my opinion on the general and collective acceptance of the results provided by Google Books unfiltered prior critical, since most of the stakeholders of mondo editoriale (utenti, lettori, autori ed editori in primis) non possedevano strumenti simili in precedenza, Google Libri ha avuto vita piuttosto facile nel conquistare il giovane mercato dell'editoria digitale.
Il suo arrivo in Italia ha però avuto notevoli conseguenze sull'orientamento del lettore finale (e promette cambiamenti ancora più incisivi nel futuro), principalmente a causa di un elemento che ne funge da main asset and at the same time is forgotten by most people: the ' search algorithm .
I have always been very impressed by the fact that most of the critics of Google Books had to blame the instrument in general (for more than welcomed) proferisse no word on the algorithm and the base of his research operation.
's where it is played the most important game, because the how does Google Books è profondamente differente dalle modalità con cui si ottengono query all'interno di una ricerca tradizionale in Google.
In conclusion, it certainly can not blame a private company to have set search algorithms favorable to its primary purpose (making profits), but it is certainly essential to develop an alternative plan authoritative and independent . If you want really good and growth of culture in Italy , it becomes essential to have a digital search tools can provide equally reliable results for both precision and greater transparency with regards logical display and visibility.

Che Siglifica Thermostar

Ebooks? No disaster, only more books!

Ebook, this stranger. Those who expected big changes or doomsday scenarios for the short term, will probably have to think again. The to web (let me use the expression, as was I in coniarla 2008 and to use it at first and in my book on Ebaforum Marketing 2.0) does not mean the total absence of rules and fundamental roles in the industry, as some would suggest. Will not disappear the publishers, as well as not allay readers, much less the writers . Rather, we speak of an evolution of these figures that not everyone has recognized because of the basic skills and the consequent limited all'offline background missing.
E ' important, in this sense, to recognize as every major cultural shift is never completely synchronous, so it may be less pervasive. The story is nourished by large steps that can be recognized only in retrospect, in addition, the remaining legacies of previous cultures. As we move towards the era of digital publishing, the Tree of Wooden Clogs still survives in our country (Fabris).
To understand what is going on, you must first have knowledge of web culture , because the classical logic of the book and the context of traditional editorial is ill-suited to an analysis of what is happening. The axiology of the primacy given to the printed book stumbles strongly in the data supplied to us in more developed markets, by logical that the Italian publishing industry is trying in vain to resist for too long.
When there is culture of the Web, you may use mechanisms such misinterpretations and misleading, making mistakes rather coarse.
is then after many wolf wolf! shouted so far in the field as an excuse to snub the phenomenon ebook from mature markets to come as unexpected news: " the book should not be affected in a scenario similar to that of the industry music "(Bain & Company), Le monde . It's not all: if " for music, digital technology has brought a rise in piracy, the book is the transition from the online store " to the device electronic, Colombani explains Lawrence, co-author of the study "The writings digital age .
But the data that comes from abroad and that should make us think more about the number of books bought and read per person increased dramatically in those markets where the ebook has reached a certain level of maturity.
A slap in the face for those who have screamed until yesterday the death of the traditional publishing market if he had allowed the 'rise of ebooks because of piracy , contributing to a significant delay in the development of the digital market Italian. The consequences are clearly visible, since except for some white flies like Bruno Editore , major publishers are just now moving at a distance of one or two years from other developed countries (and even some third world) . A logical suicide that had very little to do with real concerns of piracy and that was intended to protect their own backyard, not realizing that the bad weather on the horizon would still have burned any future bud.
Now it's too late to run for cover, and while we are quick to advertise a market Italian in digital takeoff , is always greater than the suspicion that they really will benefit from the large international groups, such as Amazon or Apple. Because the real novelty of ' ebook , what nobody wants to admit in theatrical, is that nothing catastrophic will affect the logic of cultural production or the use of the book, but rather the system publishing distribution . And that's where you make turnovers.

Ideas For A Nerf Gun Birthday Party

Cultural Social Networking: What no one tells you

some time I have been asked to comment on the new trend of social communication online. I find the perfect opportunity to express some of my thoughts while I'm facing a stimulating read on the subject in recent days, which fits perfectly with many of the views and insights that I had already expressed in my book Factor Network "and in my other previous articles. I state for those who think that the networking consist of something such as having multiple connections or friends as you can on Facebook, you probably will have more than a few disappointments.
If you want to know which book I am referring, it is You are not a gadget of Jaron Lanier , a very interesting study on the recent culture of Web 2.0 and how they are generally accepted and introjected as something very cool or positive without a real understanding of practical implications.
The critical point must first be identified in the huge emotional investment in these instruments that many do, an attitude in which we slip unconsciously, and that leads eventually to a genuine emotional alienation of one's reality . Social networks like Facebook (to name the most widely used today) are tools created by a basic philosophy that represents the fol rouge of you are not a gadget :

" the information must be alienated experience " (Lanier).

New tecnoteologia , perfectly parallel with the collimating neoliberal ideology , we are verifying the outcomes, first-person, now taking a new step in its evolution, eventually creating a framework within which to explode soon in which people lose their natural empathy for a virtual world made of "like" or comments limited to a few characters.
think I'm exaggerating? You should then explain why the advice I get my daily activities are increasingly ambivalent statements and comments from the use of social network . Da chi spiega che un account con migliaia di "amici" è improvvisamente stato chiuso senza spiegazione, tagliando fuori ogni possibile contatto sociale (le restanti  forme umane  erano state eliminate da tempo, sic!) a chi afferma di compiere un lavoro molto stancante e faticoso solo per  apparire  all'interno delle maglie di Facebook (e gli esempi potrebbero proseguire all'infinito); per non parlare delle moltissime esperienze al limite dell'esaurimento nervoso subite by the many who tell me identity theft and the like.
Mind you, it would be very easy for me as a marketing communications consultant and adhere unequivocally to the new Eden of social marketing, because the world of social networking ad revenue now makes it easy dictated by filing a personal growth and no apparent brake.
Now, like many of you know, the rest agree with the use of social network as a simple and basic means of communication (similar to what happens to the email), but at the same time I reluctantly membership and the adoption of social networking as a means main communication identity , both about the need for personal communications, both as regards the activities of business and cultural organizations.
adheres unaware a Social Network and let this take control of their communication activities do not necessarily lead to real benefits of networking in life daily, but a reduction of themselves through an alienated pre-formatted and a reality where the only differentiating elements of your personality will be highlighted by the change in the publication of a photo or a comment in a blucentrico ... millions of identical boards that overlap under the trademark of Facebook or social network near future.
The basic lesson is the following: when handled so prevalent social networking your business communication, you are moving the control of your reality outside of you. Entrust your house keys to a stranger? No, right? Similarly, I have no intention to completely virtualize my reality to a third company that collects and classifies all information about me and that can close the communication channel without any notice from one moment to another. If you have never thought of this before, perhaps now is the time to do it.
